07/22/2003 Archived Entry: "Things Tony Blair Says" Whenever Tony Blair is accused by Tories of managing something badly, he responds by saying that he spends more money on it than they do, as though it is impossible to spend more money and do something badly. I agree that Tony Blair is prone to citing increased government expenditure as proof of his political virtue. Unfortunately, while calling Blair on that particular fallacy, Iain Duncan Smith has has not come up with any coherent alternative proposals. "You're throwing money at it but it's not getting any better. Explain THAT" With spend-more-of-other-people's-money=The-Right-Answer so firmly etched on his mind, ring-fenced against all attack, I suppose Mr Blair wouldn't be able to hear the criticism.
